We are excited to announce to our friends, customers, and neighbors our newest way to give back to the community – the Young Entrepreneur Scholarship (Y.E.S.)!
Each year, we will accept applications from young people between the ages of 8 and 20 years old who want to start or grow their own small business. The best applicant who can demonstrate a sound business plan, present it to our team, and meet a high standard of character will be awarded a grant of up to $1,000 to help plant or grow their business!
Hello, I’m Nathan Rust with Prestigious Painting, and today I’m excited to talk to you about Y.E.S. the Young Entrepreneur Scholarship. Y.E.S. is a program where we offer a grant of up to $1,000 to invest in the business of a young person in our community. I want to tell you about Y.E.S. and how it works, but first I’m going to tell you a quick story about my first entrepreneurial experience.
When I was a kid, about 6 or 7 years old, we had three massive pecan trees in our front yard. These trees dropped scores of pecans, so much that we would never keep up with harvesting them all. One day my mother told my older sister and I, that if we would go out and pick up all the pecans in the yard, she would take us to the local farmer’s market and we could sell them all and keep the money. Now when she told us that, I don’t know about my sister, but I had this idea in my head that we were about to have more money than any kid ever had from this plan. We worked out there for a couple of hours I think filling up bags and bags with all these pecans. And that afternoon our mom brought us up there like she said and we sold them to a gentleman at the market for I think less than $6 or something. That was the day I learned not only the value of hard work, but also the value of a dollar. While I didn’t get rich off these pecans, I definitely got an itch to find opportunities around me. My parents encouraged this through my life and they were both self-employed, so that instilled an entrepreneurial spirit in me!
Now as an adult, I find that I want to invest in young people the same way--I want to help them find opportunities to build their own small business. So that’s what we’re doing--through Y.E.S., we will choose young people to help through grants and mentorship to start or grow their business!

- What’s cool about your business?
- How will people know about your business?
- Who are your customers?
- How much do you charge for your service or product?
- How much money do you need to get started or to grow your business?
- Why should you be picked for the Scholarship?
