7 Nursery Decorating Tips To Try in Baton Rouge, LA

There are few rooms in the house that, when decorated properly, can make the difference between having good access to what your baby needs and not more than the baby’s nursery.

You’ll find that if you take the time to plan out the nursery decorating, you will end up with a much better nursery in the end which of course is ideal for the early years of your baby’s life.

Let’s look at and consider seven nursery decorating tips to try in Baton Rouge, LA

1. Comfortable Adult Chair

One good thing that you’re going to need to have set up somewhere in the nursery is a comfortable chair that is meant for at least one adult to sit.

You may not know it yet (or perhaps you did know about it at one point and just forgot about it because time tends to do this…) but it’s going to be a lot of time that you will be spending in the nursery doing different things for the baby from a seated position.

The more comfortable the chair, the better off you will be while you are sitting there.

2. Have A Reading Area

You may be wondering why there would be a need for a reading area if the baby is not yet able to read.

This is true but you are more than able and so it’s good for you to set up an area for you to be able to take the baby and read them your favorite stories and just general good books that are nice and pleasant for the baby to hear.

3. Try The Closet Crib Approach

There are many approaches you can consider when you’re looking to find a good place to put the crib in the nursery.

A possibly unconventional approach that some take is to put the crib in the closet, which certainly does sound unusual – but if done well can work quite well.

It actually is good in some ways because it is a lot easier to block out light from the closet if you have the right kind of blackout curtain separating the closet from the rest of the room.

4. Keep A Consistent Theme

Even though you’re going to be basically the only person in the room for a while that is going to really appreciate the distinct shapes and themes that you put there, it’s a good idea to keep one consistent theme throughout.

By keeping a good consistent theme in the nursery, it will have an overall better look than if you mix up all kinds of characters and ideas all around.

5. Avoid Sharp Edges

Though it should be fairly obvious, perhaps it is not — when you’re setting up furniture, make sure you can avoid sharp edges as much as possible.

Though this is not always possible, you can always modify the existing furniture that you have by adding padding that is specially made to blunt the edges of harder furniture.

When you’re rocking the baby in the middle of the night and you don’t bruise your ankle on a piece of furniture, you will be glad that you did this.

6. Dressers Can Be Changing Tables

In the world of home decorating, one thing that is really good especially when you have limited space is using furniture for more than one purpose.

One such thing is taking a set of dresser drawers and making it into a dresser/changing table.

This doesn’t mean that you’d be changing the baby in one of the drawers, of course, but rather on top of the dresser — so you’d have to make sure to get the right height dresser.

7. Vintage Is Okay (With A Caveat)

Lastly, you should know that it’s okay to use vintage furniture, but there is a caveat — it has to be the kind of furniture that doesn’t need to meet annual safety standards.

Your baby’s crib, for example, should not be more than a couple of years old — there are certain kinds of older cribs that are now considered dangerous to babies.
